Wild population: 6.000 individuals (total population: 17.500 individuals)
Lifespan: 30-40 years
Gestation: 16 months, 1 calf
Voice: high-pitched squeals, snorts, grunts, bellows
Identification wide square mouth, large grey body
Range: today mostly SA + reintroduced to a number of areas
Habitat: grassy savanna
