Lion (Panthera leo)  A black-maned lion, a genetic mutation, which is not seen much anymore in Eastern Africa. This type of lion was nearly exterminated by hunters in the 19th and 20th centuries, including by Mr. Hemingway himself, for whom this lion was the most kingly not only for his mane but for his regularly more robust bulge, in comparison to lions with blond or brown manes. In this situation however, the lion was defeated by an alliance of two large brown lions. But probably because of his strength, they created a new alliance with him. But just the same, he fell third in line. A weaker lion would have already been dead.
